Dark address space
[edit]Computer security researchers sometimes use the term "darknet" as unused IP address space.
Quote from Government Technology Dec 2007: "Dark address space, which is sometimes referred to as "darknet," is the area of the Internet's routable address space that's currently unused, with no active servers or services."
Monitoring the darknet or dark address space is one of the common methodology to research DDoS activities and IP address spoofing. Are there any oppositions to add this usage of darknet? 240D:1A:1107:8400:2551:9174:70EC:351F (talk) 02:59, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia articles are generally about topics rather than words, since this is an encyclopedia and not a dictionary. If some sources are using this combination of words in a different way that's not really on topic for this article (though it might be on Wikitionary) unless we have sources that directly discuss the difference in usage as it pertains to the topic. ZeroNet
[edit]I noticed that ZeroNet is listed as an "active" darknet here. It's no longer being developed, but there is an active fork called ZeroNetX. Should the original ZeroNet be moved to "No longer supported"? Perhaps we can add ZeroNetX to the active list. MystikMakr (talk) 13:46, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- That's a list of stuff with preexisting Wikipedia articles. If someone writes an article on ZeroNetX, perhaps then. MrOllie (talk) 13:52, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
