Hey you made an edit to the "Nunavut_general_election,_2004" page. on "05:47, 17 February 2004" you made one claim I find hard to believe, voter turn out is 110% but I can't find refrence to a source anywhere.
p.s. sorry if this is not the correct forum for contacting you. I am still new to the whole wiki thing
Hi - I'm not sure how to bring this to your attention, I hope this works.
You contributed photos of St Michael's (RC) Cathedral Toronto, and St James' (Anglican) Cathedral Toronto.
Problem is, both photos are of St Mikes, including the one that claims to be of St James'. (compare the towers in the two photos, it's the same building; and if you go to the St James' cathedral website linked from its wikipedia article, you'll find the photo isn't the anglican place.)
can you fix that? thanks
chris
- Nice catch. Thanks, I never would have found that. How silly of me. - Montréalais 00:48, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
GLBT categories deleted
[edit]Hi, Montrealais. I encourage you to visit Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2005 May 7#Gay, lesbian, and bisexual / LGBT occupational categories. (Wikipedia really needs a GLBT noticeboard for stuff like this.) Jonathunder 04:24, 2005 May 8 (UTC)
- Inspired by Jonathunder's idea, I have created a LGBT noticeboard. Please take a look. -- Samuel Wantman 07:08, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

lots of edits, not an admin
[edit]Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. If you're at all interested in becoming an admin, can you please add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list, although there is certainly no guarantee anyone will ever look at it. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 13:42, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

That image I optimized (the gay marriage in Canada graphic) *was* up-to-date
[edit]Please clear your browser's cache. The map of jurisdictions in Canada where homosexual marriage in Canada is allowed, which I optimized with OptiPNG, was up-to-date. I reverted it. Look at the history. Andrew pmk 03:21, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Gaymap
[edit]I notice that on this revision of the gaymap Australia's colourings were incorrect again, which I asked Earl Andrew to fix on an earlier edit here. Whilst it is true that certain states of Australia recognize de facto relationships, these do not, as the civil union article says, have a "civil status similar to marriage". Please ensure you use the colouring reflecting this. Thanks Dysprosia 03:00, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
I see that you are listed as a contributor for this project. Because the project is incomplete, I would like to find out what the current plans are for the project. Much work is still needed, particularly for constellations in the southern sky. I believe we need to do the following:
- Complete the infobox for each constellation.
- Standardise the format for each constellation.
On my user page, I have posted a few ideas for standardisation and I would like some feedback. -- B.d.mills (T, C)

Saint-Henri
[edit]Montrealais - I am somewhat pissed that you blasted away the redirect at Saint-Henri in order to write your neighbourhood article without bothering to see what pointed at the redirect, or to clean up the mess of articles that now go to the wrong place. This was highly inconsiderate. Please, check what links there, and clean up after yourself. Fawcett5 04:16, 25 July 2005 (UTC)

Borough maps
[edit]The template is based on Image:Montreal2001.png with the rest of the borders drawn by me. Therefore I don't have it in any higher resolution. I forgot about those parks being transfered from Senneville and the Île Bizard—Ste. Gene—Ste. Anne borough. The Plateau/Rosemont border needs adjusting too. I'll fix it up later today if I have time. - Farquard 17:19, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks. I was going to use it to make a nice big boroughs map. - Montréalais 17:19, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Montreal Metro
[edit]About the line in the article, "Only three stations have open entrances such as are prevalent in other cities.". What three stations are these? I've racked my brain for a week now, but can't come up with them. Great page by the way. Thank you.
- My pleasure. The stations are Place-Saint-Henri (Saint-Jacques and Place-Saint-Henri exits), Bonaventure (Peel exit, under the eave of Windsor Station), and Square-Victoria (Saint-Antoine exit, adorned with the famous Hector Guimard portico). - Montréalais 01:04, 3 August 2005 (UTC)

Borough Names
[edit]Oy veh what a saga this is turning out to be... Obviously, discussion/negotiation isn't working, as Andrew refuses to aknowledge logical thought or offer up any of his own.
I think we have a few options... We can put up a notice requesting comments from other users or request a third party, but I think asking for comments is best.
Then again, we could also request moderation, as, even with outside comments, he'll probably just continue holding everything up. And, I really didn't like his assinine "I'll just change them myself" line.
Maybe we could also post some kind of notice on the Quebec community areas (as the Montreal ones haven't taken off yet... feel free to contribute!).
I don't think this warrants arbitration (at least not yet), but we will either need to bring in an outside voice or just ignore him (but sinking to his level would be kind of lame on our part). Anyway, get back to me when you have a chance.
By the way, it's nice to be on the same side :-). Oh, ya— now that we have settled the naming thing, can we go ahead and finalize it as a Montreal Style Guide? It can be expanded to cover also the borough issue that is now being decided and future issues which may (read: will invariably) crop up. Thanks, Larineso 18:04, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
P.S.: I have been thinking that we should do a series of articles about Demographics of Montreal (Base article and then "Chinese in Montreal", "Italians in Montreal", "Anglophones in Montreal", "Francophones in Montreal", etc...). Check out Demographics of Hong Kong. All the HK articles have such stylish sidebars! We could do something like that! So many ideas.. so little time.. —Larineso 18:12, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

Where did you find the Dene name from, because according to the GNWT here[1] the community is still Rae-Edzo and the traditional name is either, Rae Mbehcho Ko (Mbehcho Koís place) or Edzo Edzoo (name of Dene chief) but not Behcho Ko. Also in the community list it's now red. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 08:06, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the info. It did look a bit premature to me, in retrospect, so I put a stub at Rae-Edzo, Northwest Territories. I found the name Behcho Ko on a CBC North article (which I can't find anymore), and a Google search turns it up in the same context as other names such as Wha Ti, for example [2]. At any rate, let's leave it as Rae-Edzo until the name settles down/comes into more generalized use.
- Incidentally, are you our first Nunavummiuq Wikipedian? - Montréalais 18:59, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- Ok. That's odd though, I knew the other three names but not the Rae-Edzo one. And I probably am the only known Nunavut editor, though I'm suprised if there was nobody else. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 22:42, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Hi! Just wondering what happened to your wonderful metrodemontreal.com website? I found it last year, then on my annual trip home in February (I live in Tokyo) I visited a few stations I'd never been to JUST BECAUSE OF YOUR SITE. Did the STCUM force you to take it down? If so, I'd be happy to write a letter supporting your good work. Cheers, Vincent 03:04, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

- I heard about it when the story first broke, and I did some googling. I turned up a photo essay I had seen back then (in Discover 's website, I believe), but unfortunately it had been taken down. Categories
[edit]I noticed that you created some userboxes without creating catagories to go with them. I am currently attempting to add categories to all of them, however it is a time-consuming task, and I would appreciate your help. I have fixed Template:User bi, and if you could use the format that I applied there on the remainder of your newly created userboxes, that would be of great assistance. Thank you in advance,Akako|☎ 21:47, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

LGBT interest userbox
[edit]Hi! After participating in some discussion about userboxes, I've decided to create a userbox specifically for people who are interested in LGBT issues. I like this userbox a lot because it doesn't force people to take a stand on LGBT-related political issues or declare a particular identity, but just expresses a common interest in editing LGBT-related articles on Wikipedia. I saw your name on the list of people who are interested in this kind of thing at the LGBT notice board, and saw when I visited your userpage that you are pretty comfortable with userboxes, so I thought I'd let you know about this one in case you want to list it on your user page. I am hoping that people will see it, click the link to the notice board, and become more involved in editing LGBT-related articles on Wikipedia. The userbox is at Template:User LGBT interest. - AdelaMae (talk - contribs) 06:21, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
You might want to look at North American Man/Boy Love Association. There is a rather nasty-toned debate on the talk page there about whether NAMBLA is a pederesty or a LGBT organisation. Some rather homophobic tones have crept into the debate.

Image Tagging for Image:Mapa-espana.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Mapa-espana.gif. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

Glossary of prison slang
[edit]I would like to discuss why you tagged Glossary of prison slang for copyright violation. It was created using the list of terms from the backs of the books Go-Boy! and Bingo!. I understand why you can't copy paragraphs of text from a book or novel, but these are glossaries. If I read a book on apples and in this book it listed 20 different varieties with small 2-3 word descriptions, does that mean that list can never be re-created in print or electronic form ever again? Roger Caron's publishers own the copyright to the words/phrases pete man, prison wolf, croaker, etc. and their short descriptions? I'll completely rewrite the descriptions if that will help but I don't see this as a copyright violation. -wadems 20:29, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- It's that I recognized several of the definitions as having been copied verbatim from the book. It's also iffy whether or not you can copy an artfully created list (i.e. not an exhaustive list such as a telephone book). (There's also the question of the value of a list of prison slang some of which is fifty years old, and some of which isn't even prison slang anymore, such as drag queen.) - Montréalais 20:35, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, but the definitions in many instances are only 1-3 words in length. If a croaker is a doctor, it's a doctor, not a "medically trained individual who earned a degree from a school of medicine, now licensed to practice podiatry." I can't see how a minor one-word description like that would be "copyrightable." And I didn't create the list identical to the books. I used italics and a single hyphen (the book used a long extended hypen with no spaces between terms and descriptions) to separate the fields, and included sub headings for each letter of the alphabet. I would be willing to "tableize" the terms if that would help things. I will agree with you on removing outdated terms like drag queen and my offer still stands to rewrite the article with different descriptions. -wadems 20:53, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- I was referring to definitions longer than a few words. When I say artfully created, I am not referring to how the list is formatted, but to the fact that entries on the list are deliberately chosen. A list with specific entries deliberately chosen to be on it (e.g. not an exhaustive list, a list of things in the set beginning with "A", or something of the sort) can be copyrighted as such. - Montréalais 20:57, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- Just delete the page then. It's obvious you're going to delete it anyway. I'll be sure not to create any new articles from now on. -wadems 21:34, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- That's uncalled for. I'm not acting with any animus towards you or the idea of such an article. I am merely attempting to resolve the current issue. A list of prison slang could be very interesting. It's just that there is a problem with the list as it currently exists. - Montréalais 21:47, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
Request for edit summary
[edit]Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 5% for major edits and 25% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 07:00, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
