Hi. May I know why my addition of Ayodele Awojobi under the List of inventors was undone by you? The man invented a hybrid vehicle called Autonov 1, sometime in the 1970s. Thanks.Krrush (talk) 19:13, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I got "your" answer here - and I quote - "What this page is for:
This page is for listing inventors of significant inventions. It is not for listing scientific or mathematical discoveries for scientists, regardless of how famous or significant the discoveries may be. Nor can it be for any old patent that the author wants to have immortalized by listing it in wikipedia. The US patent office grants about 500 patents per day--they cannot all be listed on this page, which should therefore be restricted to notable inventions that were commercialized and have been noted in references such as other encyclopedias, histories of technology and such. Strange, or funny half-baked ideas of cranks don't belong here either. This is an encyclopedia, not a book of humor". Thanks.Krrush (talk) 19:35, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Methods and "p"ersonality
[edit]Please. This "p" should be lower-case, not capital. Similarly with a section heading that says "Early Professional Years", etc. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Michael Hardy 20:14, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

Dimensional Analysis
[edit]Please check out new additions to Dimensional Analysis. It probably still needs work, but I think it is an improvement. Thinking about it, I will remove your name from the section header, because it might seem self serving for you to work on it. Thanks for your help on this subject. PAR 15:15, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Don - I have answered some of your statements on my talk page. PAR 17:24, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi PAR--Have you seen what happened to the dimensional analysis article recently? What a mess! This is not even dimensional analysis now, and the guy who did this does not even have a talk page. I think the entire page should be reverted to the way it was. And I still think the Huntley's analysis should be toned down, or perhaps it should actually have its own article. You are clearly much more experienced in wikistuff than I, so you probably have better judgement on how to handle this than I. DonSiano 22:48, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi Don - I will take a look at it and get back to you, and we can discuss the state of the article, ok? PAR 00:22, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Saying that they were first noticed "over a hundred years ago" is problematic, because that phrase will become increasingly misleading as time goes by. It won't ever actually become inaccurate, true, but the sentence "the dinosaurs died out over a hundred years ago" isn't strictly inaccurate either. Can you provide a year, or a decade, for the rings' discovery? Thanks. DS 16:51, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

AfD nomination of List of eugenicists
[edit]I've nominated List of eugenicists, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that List of eugenicists satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of eugenicists and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of List of eugenicists during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. --Charlene 06:14, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Edits to C. D. Darlington
[edit]You have been removing links from the C. D. Darlington entry to my review of Harman's biography of Darlington. Please explain your exact basis for doing so. I am assuming you are aware of some factual or other error in that review. If so, please point it out. -- GT
You claim in justification that "style" forbids adding a link to a book review in the reference section. Please provide a reference to a WikiPedia style guide advising this - stating that some other entries do not have such links is not persuasive. Regarding the notion of a "vanity" link, please state which WikiPedia guideline is relevant. I see no reason why I cannot link an entry to a review I have written. Why not? If you do not provide substantiation I will declare a dispute and ask for arbitration. -- GT

[edit]Hi,
I need your help. I am working on a research project at Boston College, studying creation of medical information on Wikipedia. You are being contacted, because you have been identified as an important contributor to one or more articles.
Would you will be willing to answer a few questions about your experience? We've done considerable background research, but we would also like to gather the insight of the actual editors. Details about the project can be found at the user page of the project leader, geraldckane. Survey questions can be found at geraldckane/medsurvey. Maurice Hilleman
[edit]I corrected the spelling of the first name of Maurice's father to "Gustav" from "Gustave" in the section of Maurice Hilleman's biography you may have contributed. No doubt the error originally came from Paul Offit's book Vaccinated...

Industrial revolution
[edit]The general strike is one of the consequences of the Industrial Revolution and all the rest of the page shows also other social effects of the IR (but doesn't speak about the General strike, a world phenomenon evidently linked to the IR). So I don't agree with what you changed or removed and I want to replace what you removed (a few lines), without taking account of the fact the page now doesn't work good (the images in front of the text). You have likely arguments and I am waiting for them in order to have a discussion without a war edition, I don't want to have. Sincerely, José Fontaine (talk) 20:36, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Electrons and Holes in Semiconductors with Applications to Transistor Electronics
[edit]The article Electrons and Holes in Semiconductors with Applications to Transistor Electronics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No indication of importance or that it meet Wikipedia:Notability (books). A list of contents is not content.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. France3470 (talk) 17:37, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Thomas MacDonald
[edit]Thomas MacDonald was not responsible for the Interstate Highway System. MacDonald was opposed to rural freeways; a report authored by him entitled "Toll Roads and Free Roads" showed that the majority of traffic was concentrated in and around cities and thus any freeways built should be built there. He found rural freeways unnecessary. (He basically supported only the sort of thing that would later be found in the Yellow Book.) This put him in opposition to President Eisenhower, who made the Interstate System a priority of his administration, who asked for MacDonald's resignation in 1953. My source for all of this is The Roads That Built America by Dan McNichol. If anything MacDonald should be known as part of the Good Roads Movement and as a booster of the United States Numbered Highways system. Is there any source you have that MacDonald was, in fact, known for his participation in early Interstate System planning? —Scott5114↗ [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 02:38, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply; I know how easy it is to get busy and not get a chance to respond to talkpage messages. MacDonald was certainly a visionary and an extremely important figure in the early development of the American highway system before the Interstate era. (I must add, he certainly makes a fascinating figure. Upon hearing of Eisenhower's request for his resignation, he informed his secretary with something along the lines of "I have just been fired, so we may as well get married." She accepted, they got married, and the two left Washington by train.) MacDonald's career is also covered in The Roads That Built America; it's a few years older but if you enjoyed The Big Roads you'd probably like McNichol's book too. Though it focuses mostly on Interstate System there are quite a few chapters of history going all the way back to circa 1900, in which MacDonald plays a more substantial part. —Scott5114↗ [EXACT CHANGE ONLY] 14:26, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia article on Maurice Wilkins
[edit]Dear DonSiano,
Earlier this year I contacted the wikipedia team with the following query:
====================================================================================================================================================================================================
[edit]Dear Sir / Madam,
I have previously contacted you about the possibility of me editing the wikipedia article about my father Maurice Wilkins. While the article at present is factually correct, i feel further information could be of benefit to readers in particular about the important work carried out by my father between 1953 and 1962 to verify the structure of DNA.
While I believe that anyone is permitted to edit an article, I feel underqualified! I have also noticed that contributor DonSiano has made several edits to the article recently. Therefore, might it be possible for DonSiano to be given my contact details on the off chance that he / she might be willing to help me in this task? Alternatively, might it be possible for me to contact DonSiano directly?
I hope you may be able to help me on this matter.
With very best wishes,
George Wilkins
I have now contacted you on your talk page as recommended by the Wikipedia team. Is this a project you might be interested in please? If so do you require further verification that I am who I say I am?* Basically my priority is to make the page as accurate and informative as possible as Wikipedia is likely to be the primary source of information used in 99 % of searches.
Please note that I am very new to Wikipedia and don't fully understand how communication between contributors works. therefore could I ask you to contact me on the following email address <georgewilkins1@hotmail.co.uk> and perhaps you could tell me how to move this forward if you're interested?
With very best wishes,
George Wilkins
