"Precise" is not normally a verb in English. Something similar is a verb in French, and the French, when writing in English, sometimes fail to realize how strange it sounds to Anglophone ears to say "This can be precised" or the like. I wonder if that's what's happening here? Michael Hardy 16:03, 12 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Actually, I've encountered "precising definition" used in a course on logic in this sense: Types of Definition; it does belong with the other types of definitions listed in the definition article. I've made a stubby attempt to rewrite it to match the term as I've seen it used: I am not familiar with it in some of the contexts the previous author had in mind, or at least, I don't think I am, but can't tell from the way it was written.
