Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

[edit]

On 17 October 2011, unregistered IP address 50.37.44.228 inserted 36 paragraphs of quotation from a book with the legend "used with permission." I see no evidence that the author in fact re-licensed the content, for example through a response to a Boilerplate_request_for_permission.

Additionally, the length is excessive for a quotation on Wikipedia: Do_not_include_the_full_text_of_lengthy_primary_sources.

Because of the potential for copyright issues with unverified licenses and because I see no way to contact the wikipedia contributor 50.37.44.228, I just went ahead and removed the entire quotation. I don't have the time to summarize the book's Introduction into a paragraph or two for the History section, but I think it's a good idea. If anyone else here is interested, I'd encourage you to quote from the pasted version of the Introduction as of 17 October 2011 and add back in the book citation even for paraphrases,

COVID-19 pandemic in Mason County

[edit]

I'm not sure why this small section is noteworthy, as the county never reported more than 50 coronavirus cases—far below the majority of other Michigan counties. There are no notable deaths within the county, and the section seems out of place since no other county has a standalone coronavirus section. If anything, the sentence can be moved to the History section or completely removed, as it provides no meaningful information. —Notorious4life (talk) 05:18, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
