Talk:Oil rig
Changes needed
[edit]This page needs a lot of changes. "Rigs" are not primarily off-shore structures. Land rigs are not also called oil-wells. A well is what is left behind..if you find oil/gas/water...Only once the rig -which only does the drilling (when it is a drilling rig) and the work over (when it is a service rig)- is gone. I am just new at the wiki-thing and don't want to jump in and edit with my limited computer skills, but this has really got to change. This page needs pictures (I have pictures), diagrams with labels, technical information etc....I'll work on my editing skills...but until then can somebody help?!?
Certainly. I too work in the oil industry and I agree that this article is dire. However I am a programmer rather than a driller so my knowledge has limits. Please don't be afraid of your lack of editing skills. Remember the Wikipedia maxim "Be Bold". Just add accurate content. You will find that the editing and formatting will just "magically" happen. Wikipedia has plenty of editors ready to polish up an article. What we are short of is domain experts willing to share their knowledge in specialist areas, so please go ahead, give the benefit of your experience. As you can see, we need it. -- Derek Ross | Talk 05:50, 2004 Sep 16 (UTC)
