Is the ch. here right? Guo Wu hui? Is that Guo Wu Yuan or something? I am not sure about that, 'cause I haven't heard of Guo Wu hui before. Gonna check it out. --FallingInLoveWithPitoc

What's Guowu hui? Never heard of that before! Is it Guowu yuan? --Yacht 10:31, Nov 25, 2003 (UTC)
Corrected. Why are you talking to yourself? >_< --Menchi 10:35, 25 Nov 2003 (UTC)
I just noticed that again. since no one responded to me, I left a message again.... >_< --Yacht 12:40, Nov 25, 2003 (UTC)

I'll move this to State Council. A whole bunch of links head there and "China" isn't part of its official title. --Jiang 12:28, 12 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Link to Uriel Wittenberg's story

[edit]

I propose to remove the link to Uriel Wittenberg's experiences at the Foreign Affairs University in Beijing, added by Urielw (23:55, 2 September 2005). This is extremely marginal. His book-length account is dealing with his experience at that college, not with the State Council. — Babelfisch 01:06, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the link now. — Babelfisch 02:32, 23 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I concede it was somewhat marginal. But as the note accompanying the link to the story (Inside China's Diplomacy School) had mentioned, the story isn't only about CFAU. It also tells (chapter 80 and elsewhere) of contract violation on the part of the Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs, which operates under the State Council. — Urielw 15:23, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of Ministers

[edit]

It may be useful to create a list of ministers. Colipon+(T) 03:56, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Where is it?

[edit]

do we have any idea where the state council meet? and other information like that? Akinkhoo (talk) 04:08, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is probably the correct answer: Zhongnanhai. But since the state council isn't a legislative body, I'm not sure its terribly relevant. Does the United States Cabinet Article state where it meets?Jsolinsky (talk) 17:26, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removed section on powers

[edit]

Removed this since it isn't true:

In practice, as is the case in most other Communist countries, the NPC's authority is rather limited, and State Council decisions usually de facto have the force of law. While the NPC usually does little more than rubber stamp State Council decisions, its oversight over the State Council is not entirely non-existent.

This isn't true as the NPC does have a lot of supervision over the State Council, and State Council decisions in China manifestly do *not* have the force of law. The confusion here is between the State Council and the Politburo. In practice, the Politburo and the CCP directs both the NPC and State Council, but that's something different.

State Council != Politburo

Standing Committee of the State Council of the People's Republic of China

There is no such body, or at least this English translation is incorrect. It should be State Council Executive Meeting. 2A02:810A:A80:7490:284C:4803:11D7:F303 (talk) 04:43, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, a number of people in Think tank and government space have erroneously referred to the Executive Meeting as the Standing Committee, people that the public expects to know these things. 2A02:810A:A80:7490:284C:4803:11D7:F303 (talk) 04:44, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Re-write

[edit]

Cfls, you should first discuss here if you want to do a complete rewrite of the article. Also, it seems your translation involves a very heavy amount of copy and paste from a government website. You also removed previously cited material without explanation. Amigao (talk) 15:54, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
