This article does not help understanding what QMS really is, and it is not putting a whole list of (not so) related topics that will help :-( Anthère
Agree, also a manufacturing bent. Service quality or a service organization also needs a QMS --Darrylv 18:43, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
"Although it may seem obvious that quality systems are necessary, many small or start-up companies function, or attempt to function, with only some areas covered. A survey performed in 1988 indicates the breadth of the systems established within the biopharmaceutical industry. The table below summarizes the systems and the percentages of the respondent companies that had established these systems. The age of the company and the industry had some effect on the extensiveness of the quality function activities . It is clear that testing is the primary emphasis. This supports the observation that testing or QC is perceived, at least in the beginning, as the emphasis of the quality function." What table? --84.154.91.135

Remove this page
[edit]The best option in my opinion is to remove the page and redirect to Quality Management page. All three main sections in this article are not really relevant to the topic. Thequality (talk) 22:23, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
This article is not very helpful in understanding QMS
[edit]I don't understand the reference to the smiling girl.
I also don't understand the reference to QMS in medical devices... this makes it look like QMS is not applicable to other organisations.
My understanding is that QMS is heavily rooted in the manufacturing sector and may therefore also apply (but is not limited to) manufacturers of medical devices. As one person mentioned above, QMS has been expanded to cover the servce sector too.
Finally, I think this article needs to explain more about the importance of Deming and his contribution to Quality management.

I wish you guys would add a Medical Quality section
[edit]I would be willing to add information frequently on a Medical Quality management page.

Well do it then.
Someone should make this page more accessible to the "layman"
[edit]Quality can't be that complicated, and you must need brains and decent communication skills to understand it fully. Please use those brains and communication skills to help the rest of us.
From my interpretation of the article, QMS is about setting out processes for the creation and/or implementation of a finished product. That finished product could be anything from a "mass-produced biscuit" to "building a garage". Correct me where I am wrong, then correct the article.... 82.0.206.215 (talk) 22:36, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Quality System Definition
[edit]A defined Quality Management can be expressed as "the organizational structure, procedures, processes and resources needed to implement quality management". Karthik Radhakrishnan (talk) 08:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)Karthik.R
- One may find that quotation here, where it attributed to ASTM E 1187: ASTM Standard Terminology Relating to Conformity Assessment User:LeadSongDog come howl 15:32, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Very similar wording was in ISO 8402:1986, which was later updated in 1994, then eventually incorporated into the ISO 9000 series. ISO 8402 itself was withdrawn in 2000. The 1986 wording also included "responsibilities" in the list. User:LeadSongDog come howl 16:07, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
