311 – The Diocletianic Persecution of Christians officially ended in the eastern Roman Empire.
1943 – Second World War: The Royal Navy submarine HMS Seraph began Operation Mincemeat to deceive Germany about the upcoming invasion of Sicily.
1963 – A refusal by the Bristol Omnibus Company and the Transport and General Workers' Union to permit the employment of black bus crews led to a bus boycott in Bristol, England.
1975 – American forces completed a helicopter evacuation (aircraft and evacuees pictured) of U.S. citizens, South Vietnamese civilians and others from Saigon, just before North Vietnamese troops captured the city and ended the Vietnam War.
2021 – A crowd crush killed 45 people during the annual pilgrimage to the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai in Israel.

I've re-added the launch of Virgin Radio. I think the first national commercial rock radio station on MW in the United Kingdom, the station that threatened Radio One's broadcasting hold and was backed a multimillionaire and owner of an international company and one that later employed names such as Chris Evans, Nick Abbot, Tommy Vance etc is a little more than "not notable" Eugenespeed (talk) 00:18, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Martyr's Day"

Martyr's Day is called Martyrs' Day in the Wiki article it is linked to. I thought it was a misspelling so I changed it to Martyrs' but someone is upset now. It has something to do with "verifiability", but it seems to me that changing it from the actual Wiki article it is linked to is what requires verifiability, especially when it changes the sense. So why is the entry here changed from the entry in the Wiki article it is linked to? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 17:56, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well, no. Your spelling change may have been correct, but it was reverted with the two unsourced entries you also added. Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide.
