[edit]I couldn't make head or tails of this article. If I didn't vaguely suspect there was something redeemable in it, I would not hesitate to consign it to the Bad jokes bin. I'm sorely tempted to blank it... In any case, I really have no competence or inclination to tackle this article, except maybe to blank it, but then again... -- Cimon Avaro on a pogo stick 11:36 12 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Changed my mind. I'll have a go. Cimon Avaro on a pogo stick 18:56 12 Jun 2003 (UTC)
I removed the "Unreferenced" tag. Most of the information can be found on the inside cover of his books, but now there is a whole interview to draw information from. Kraxler 19:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
Weasel word cleanup
[edit]I've attempted to cleanup the paragraph tagged as containing Weasel Words. Rather than me removing the tag I'd appreciate it if someone else can review the changes and remove the tag if deemed acceptable. --Perry Middlemiss (talk) 04:51, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Rewrite
[edit]Hi all. I fancy attempting to re-write this article to try to make it in some way useful. I'll start shortly and will edit one section at a time. I welcome comment or assistance as I go. Carlton25 (talk) 11:24, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
This is an idiosyncratic personal essay, not a Wikipedia entry.
[edit]I have to agree with the alerts posted at the opening of this article. This piece, while interesting, is filled with opinions and personal observations, rather than consisting of facts that can be traced to established sources. Just a few examples: heads such as "How McCarry responded to the Accepted Wisdom of his time" and "Can and Should Journalists Serve as CIA Operatives?"; the strained comparisons to Mailer, Hemingway, Salinger, et al.; comparing the Paul Christopher novels to "a Christopher Nolan movie."
