After discussion on Talk:List of dog breeds I'm not sure what to put in the table under "Classification". Previously I would have put "Not currently recognised by the major registries", but perhaps this isn't a good idea? I think we need something to explain why there is nothing listed, perhaps miss out the word "currently" which might imply recognition is a goal? Quill, what do you think? -- sannse (talk) 15:57, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I was going to write to you about this, last night, but for some reason decided that sleep was a better idea!
The problem with even writing 'not recognized' without the 'currently' is that there is an implication that this is a bad thing. Can we not put 'Independent' with a link to the classifying club? For example, for a well-established breed such as this one, Classification: Independent, Mini Foxie Club of Australia, Inc. (MFCA) Breed Standard: http://www.minifoxie.org/breed.html
Similarly, Classification: Independent, English Jack Russell Club of America, Koolie Club of Australia--you get the picture, with a link to their breed standard if they have one (although, I suggest that if they DON'T have one, the fact that they're 'under development' should be indicated in the article!) Quill
Sleep!? We'll have none of that round here if you please ;)
yes, that sounds fine to me - I've added that to this article (I'd already linked that standard in the table too, so that works well). I've put the link in the table as a wikilink, the association probably deserves an article, but if that's not the consensus it can be changed. -- sannse (talk) 21:11, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Excellent! What, another article? Okay, I'll wri--stop! How quickly does one become addicted to Wikipedia?? Quill 21:25, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I think you just found out! Elf | Talk 02:34, 16 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit]

AFAIK, Elf, there is only one breed club for the MFT. Owners of registered dogs in countries other than Australia still belong to the Mini Foxie Club of Australia. Quill 01:42, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK. My bad. Elf | Talk 03:09, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, when we lived on the farm, our Jasmine would sneak out next door and chase the neighbour's horse. Bit alarming to see a 400kg horse run away from a 3.5kg dog! As many people have said anecdotally: "They don't realize that they are a very small animal"! Old_Wombat (talk) 08:26, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
