[edit]My condolences on the death of your grandfather, User:Adraeus. I think you have crafted this article a little bit too much like a reading at a funeral. It's unfortunate that most of the sources for this article are behind subscriber sites. It really needs to be more encyclopedic in it's tone and content. --Randolph 17:42, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm aware of its tone and content, which is why I requested the cleanup taskforce to fix it up by wikifying it and rewriting the article to prevent copyright violations. The New York Times wrote an original obituary using various sources, including from within the family. Other newspapers, like the Washington Post, simply copied our biography of "Doc" Ramsay with little to no editing. The content in this article is mostly from the New York Times' version, but I started rewriting it at the first paragraph. Adraeus 17:58, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
Aerosol Spray Cans
[edit]My grandfather was a friend and co-worker of one of the men (Lyle Goodhue, William Sullivan) who developed a small aerosol can pressurized by a liquefied gas (a fluorocarbon) in 1943. He tested one of the first early prototypes of that aerosol can, and had it in his garage in New York for awhile. Unfortunately, when it was time to move they trashed the aerosol can because at the time it wasn't considered as valuable as it would be to a museum today. Sad. Adraeus 06:57, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
More information
[edit]There's more information about Doc in the Washington Post Obituary which I added to the external links section. Adraeus 14:46, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
