Onmyougi

[edit]

Are Onmyougi mentioned in the article the same as Onmyoji? Brona 02:29, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Yes, and it is properly spelled onmyoji (or onmyouji). I also do not think that shikigami can accurately be called oni, which to my knowledge are a specific type of demon. I would say they are kami (神) or spirits.

Death Note

[edit]

"In the Manga Death Note Light Yagami finds Ryuk's, a shikigami, notebook can kill anyone if you write their name in the book. " That really should go under shinigami and not shikigami.128.195.94.216 22:53, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the phrasing is horribly awkward. I haven't touched it, though; I just corrected the problem with the pun-explanation being cut off half-way through, and fixed a couple of minor typos. I didn't realise until afterward that the explanation was originally complete (it was mangled in an anon edit on the 9th of May); feel free to revert to Marginoferror's original wording if you like.

Tsuzuki Asato

[edit]

Should it be mentioned in this article that Tsuzuki Asato from Yami no Matsuei can summon 12 different shikigami, like Abe no Seimei? I haven't seen him do more than two or so simultaneously, but I've not seen indication that he couldn't summon all 12, should he so desire. 65.190.52.238 09:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Abe no Seimei and 12 shikigami

[edit]

Looking at the [Japanese article], it looks like the statement that Abe no Seimei could "summon and use twelve shikigami simultaneously" might be a mistranslation of his having the [Jūni-Shinshō] among the shikigami he used. Thoughts? Kotengu 08:45, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Moonphase

[edit]

Don't they also have shikigami in Moonphase? 71.194.136.20 23:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change and Spoilers

[edit]

I changed the link for oni to oni (folklore) because it linked to the disambiguation page, instead of the page directly about oni in Japanese folklore. The only downside, is the article now says oni (folklore) instead of just oni. In anyone could fix that, it would be great. Personally, I would like to see spoiler warnings on the references in anime and manga. I was in the middle of watching that particular episode of InuYasha when they used the word Shikigami, and since I didn't know what it was, I paused and went to look it up. It ruined the whole plot to find out that Kikyo was still alive. Silver 23:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blue Seed

[edit]

Shikigami also appear in the anime series Blue Seed - the Americanized blonde girl Yamazaki Sakura summons them by using ofuda talismans Digitalmustelid (talk) 04:04, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pop culture references

[edit]

I don't think it's a good thing that nearly every article on Japanese culture consists of 70% of various cartoons that refers to the topic. This is something tvtropes.com, normal people don't care for this in-depth description and it would never be found in an encyclopedia. -M — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.240.131.91 (talk) 06:25, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
